She does love her baby! I wasn't over there this morning when the little one was playing wildly, but apparently Shasta was being quite protective.
She sleeps well...

Meet the new kid on the block. She was born yesterday. I think her official name will be Chantilly Lace-a-Go-Go...but then again, that may not be definite yet.
I met her today. She is totally and unbelievably cute. Seriously.
That's Shasta, her mom, licking her and keeping an eye on me. Shasta's already a good mom. Fortunately, she's used to me, and didn't seem upset by my presence. The little one's already curious and very outgoing. She started over to see me, but hit a patch of sun and was hypnotized. She pretty much fell asleep on her feet ;D
I don't think I can stand it. I'm verklempt. Talk amongst yourselves...
I confused my camera and got a fun little effect here..the wall in the background is really white.
This lovely iris, along with many relatives and friends, is blooming in my parents' yard.
I was going to go to an outdoor Easter drama tonight, but as the temps are supposed to drop into the 30's with 25-30 mph winds, I'm thinking maybe we'll go tomorrow or Saturday night instead!
Is there any creature on the planet that sleeps better than a cat? I think not. Allow Willow to demonstrate:
It's important to have toes and nose properly aligned, being certain to allow for maximum display of pinkness.
When not asleep, it's vital for the cat to be ever vigilant to the comings and the goings of the neighborhood, as demonstrated by Oz. Nothing should happen out there without his approval.
That's right...we went to Disney's Animal Kingdom while we were in Florida. It was terrific fun. Ole' Walt knew what he was doing when he created his empire, and it's definitely fun for kids of all ages. The shows are Broadway quality. Here's a peek at "The Lion King".
And here's a peek at the real lion king! The safari ride was fabulous. We were still early enough during the day that most of the animals were active. Except for the lion. He was catching some rays and enjoying a snooze. You have to look closely to see his back and part of his mane. He's in the grassy area under the tree.
Elephants were roaming about...
And here's your test for the day....how many giraffes do you see? They certainly do camouflage nicely, don't they?
And saw this:

And this....poetry in motion:
