Tifa and Hunter

So, today I bring to your attention a rescue near & dear to my heart: Greyhound Friends of North Carolina This is where both Phil and Gwyn have been adopted from. I can't say enough good things about the folks who advocate tirelessly for the hounds...so I won't try today. Maybe later. But today's pet spotlight shines on two very special hounds who need forever homes..preferably together!

Tifa:
and Hunter: They had a previous home and have lived together for five years. It would be really good if someone would adopt them together so that can continue. I got to meet these two when Gwyn & I went to GFNC for our photo shoot and they're a terrifically sweet pair! If you have any doubts about how special it can be to adopt older rescues, I refer you to Tales and Tails and the touching story of Lilac. Enough said. Anyway, even if you don't end up fancying these two...there are a lot of other retired racers that need good homes. Go check 'em out!

Greyheel Tarhound

Gwyn (keeping up the traditions set down by her greyt-uncle Phil) takes greyt pride in being a good cheerleader for the UNC Tarheels. On game days she dons her cheerleading outfit (the too-big t-shirt she inherited from Phil), sings the fight song with her daddy (in her high-pitched, girlie voice) and settles down. Here with a new Tarheel toy...which, sadly, barely lasted the game. Not made as finely as it could have been!

 It became apparent before too long during yesterday's game that the outcome would not be as the Carolina fans hoped...

:::sigh::: Ah, well, the wolves won this day...

 

Gwyn's first Halloween

So, this was Gwyn's first Halloween since joining our pack :D She didn't really dress up in a costume, but did wear her new "Boo" pajamas!

 I've been admiring some of the prior costumes that the gang over at Tales and Tails have worn. My favorite was Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf!

 What Gwyn did love was the little trick-or-treaters coming to see her! LoML (a/k/a Love of My Life) would step outside and dole out the candy while Gwyn & I stayed inside the storm door...so as not to frighten the little ones and/or maul them in her enthusiasm (something we're still working on as it regards visitors coming in!...maybe I better read a bit more about practicing Down Stays over at Never Say Never Greyhounds!!) But, I digress....(a fantastically rare occurrence..NOT!)

Sadly, we only got a few trick-or-treaters...and in between Gwyn took up vigil:

She seemed really disappointed that there weren't more of them...perhaps next year we'll have to advertise for a few more!

 Gwyn got a new toy especially for the photo shoot. It's rapidly become her favorite! It's an Extreme Kong Flyer. I love that it's so flexible and soft, yet sails through the air and is Kong tough. (And no, we don't get anything for pitching them...just our humble opinion.)
