Happy Belated Birthday to Gwyneth!

Yep. It's been over a month with no posting from me. I may be negligent, but better late than never! Gwyn celebrated a birthday this past week. Hard to believe - our sweet girl is seven!
I've had some extra commitments on me lately & so didn't have a lot of time to do anything special but managed to combine two of Gwyn's favorite activities: riding in the car and going for a walk.
We drove down to the end of the island and then walked around.
It made us happy.

Meet Luigi

Some friends of ours had their Chinese Crested, Luigi, at the Hilton when we there a couple of weeks ago and we finally got to meet him.
Loved his pajamas!
I couldn't believe how wonderfully soft his little hairless body is...like velvet!

Lexington VA

Last weekend went with friends to Lexington, VA to see this man:
Clinton Anderson. Of Downunder Horsemanship. He's a fabulous Aussie horse clinician. I am a big fan of his Method and had a terrific time seeing him in action in person and meeting him.

Also had a terrific time visiting the area...beautiful horse country:
We were put up by some truly gracious people and I enjoyed meeting their critters:
An added bonus was getting to see the cadets' parage at VMI...what an awesome experience!

Happy St. Patrick's Day

In honor of which, I share this year's Westminster best of breed in the Irish wolfhounds:
Oh that I had house and land enough to have a few of these running around!

Wear your green, celebrate any Irish heritage lurking back in that lineage of yours....and smile with me for my parents who celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary today.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY MOM & DAD!

Hound time

Well, here I am. Back (for now?) from a 7 month blog hiatus. No real reason other than that life happens & I've been wildly busy. But as this blog started around dogs...I figured it was high time to get back to dogs & catch you up a little.

As those of you who read (past tense?) this blog already know, we had to put our dear, sweet Phil down in November. We miss him horribly, but cherish our memories of that wonderful guy. While we could never replace him, we knew right away that we wanted to rescue another greyhound. After having a grey sharing my home and life for about 19 years there's just really no question about it any more....a house isn't a home without one!

We had some trips planned and so were forced by circumstance to wait until January to bring our new baby home. Long story short: we were drawn to the picture of our new girl first, then liked everything we learned via email about her personality. When I looked closely at her pedigree and realized she is Phil's great-niece the deal was done!

More about her soon...For now here are a couple of pictures of Gwyn (short for Gwyneth...Welsh for "fair" or "blessed")
The head tilt cracks me up!

More Video Amusement

So, I've been a bit lax on keeping up ye' ole' blog. Much going on. Am still delighting in my new Flip video...as you can see:

Will try to get back to at least semi-regular posting soon.

Wally & Peanut revisited

We had a very pleasant evening with Wally & Peanut yesterday...as well as their Mom & Dad! Will share some videos soon, but thought I'd share a few stills for now.

Peanut is very attentive...especially if food might be in danger of hitting the floor! We knew it must be time to go home when Wally was trying to nap and it was obvious by the ears that we were keeping him up!
"You may rub my belly if you'd like."
"Why yes, I am king of all I survey...why do you ask?"
Aren't they just too precious?

Peanut & Wally Update

I first introduced you to our friends' pets, Peanut (part-dingo dog) and Wally (grey tabby boy kitty) on December 5th of last year. I thought it was time for an update. Despite their parents' original concerns, I think they're getting along famously. Wally is growing...he's in that gangly teenage phase. He wildly attacks Peanut, but she takes it all in stride. She might even initiate the wildness at times!

Here's Wally, going in for the attack! The ear set is a dead giveaway that he's still contemplating mischief...
Once again, Peanut looks to her mom wondering if they really needed a cat after all.
When the play is done, he's all sweetness and light...little baby kitty...of course, that *was* Peanut's bed before Wally came along!

Peanut & Walnut...or, a Dingo's Got a Baby!

This is Peanut. She belongs to friends of ours. She was adopted and we believe she's part Dingo. She's a really neat dog. This is Walnut....Wally for short. He's just recently been adopted by our friends.
Peanut's not quite sure what to do with him just yet. The introductions have been gradual. But Wally's still a typical wild kitten and attacks Peanut and people...and furniture indiscriminately. Note Peanut's averted head...the better to protect eyes.
Peanut has to remain on high alert while Wally's out and about. If you look in the lower left portion of the picture you'll realize that bit of gray is Wally ;D
"Mom, Dad, are you sure we need a kitten?"

Zoe

Meet Zoe. She's all that...and a bag of chips! She belongs to my brother-in-law and sister-in-law. She's a sweet little girl who likes to give kisses, but was gracious enough to pose for me the other day for a brief photo shoot. She struck different poses to model the latest in her collection...
...she's quite the fashionista!
