Random Critter Shots
A common sight in my household:
That's little Spike paws coming out from under the door...Yes, for those uninitiated few in the audience, we have cat-doors in the interior doors in our house. Our cats are 100% indoor cats...but over the years various hounds have led us to want to keep them out of certain rooms...and, in case you didn't know, cats REFUSE to be kept out of rooms. It's an interesting quirk that a cat can be perfectly content never going into a particular room....UNTIL YOU SHUT THE DOOR! Then it becomes IMPERATIVE that they go into that room IMMEDIATELY - IF NOT SOONER! Hence the cat doors.
They also make for fun playing, as shown above. The other thing to note in the picture is the blue you see through the cat door. That's Spike's play cube. He gets in it and rolls around in it and frequently manages to wedge it up against the door.
Is Xander, a/k/a The Orange Menace, really as big as a greyhound...or is it an optical illusion? You decide!

Lying in Wait
As per usual, much madness around here..mostly good, but somewhat hectic...haven't even been on the computer in days! Will try to catch you up soon, but for this morning I'll start your week off with a few shots of the multi-tasking Spike boy...he 'hides' in his cube and does sneak attacks on that crazy ball! :D

Xtreme Cuteness - Xtreme Edition
WARNING: THE FOLLOWING POST CONTAINS AN IMAGE OF SUCH EXTREME CUTENESS THAT AUTHOR REFUSES TO BE HELD LIABLE FOR SPONTANEOUS 'SPLOSIONS FROM THE CUTENESS OVERLOAD. PROCEED WITH CAUTION.
Have I mentioned that Xander is the best big brother??? Well, he is. I know I've mentioned how glorious his tail (a/k/a "the squirrel") is, and how he used to attack it with vigor. Now he allows Spike to play with it. It's so cute we can barely take it. Xander will frequently slide down somewhere ('coz that's how he rolls...he doesn't merely lie down anywhere, he leans--against walls, furniture, etc.---and then slides down), then he'll look away from Spike as if he's totally unaware that he's there and slowly flick that magnificent squirrel-tail. See what I mean:

Backyard Bunny
I can't swear to it, but I believe this is the same bunny that has frequented our back yard for years. He or she hangs out just outside the fence...wisely! Certain greyhounds have been known to bark at said bunny - who doesn't even bat an eye as he/she knows they can't be gotten from there. I noticed this bunny back when we had Phil, our dear brindle boy because I thought it was cute that our wild bunny was also a brindle!

More Working Dog Teasers
Okay, I don't know about you, but I've got so much going on here I don't know which way to turn! But I'm going to try to post at least six of the seven days per week, even if it's just one picture and a quick note! As the week progresses, I'll tell you about this...yesterday's teaser did not involve a new tv episode, but instead a local demonstration by some of our K-9s and their handlers. I took some pictures and some videos that I will be sharing as we go along.
And, lest you forget the newest ruler of the land:
Spike's still keeping tabs on everyone here!

Kitteh Sleepiness
Sorry I've been delinquent for a few days...we went out of town for the weekend (rested up and caught up with some dear friends) and also work has been particularly wide-open. For today's entertainment I share some pix of kitteh sleepy poses. You'll recall that I've always maintained that Xander sleeps well. He still does. But so does so Spike!
Willow isn't sleeping just yet, but she's divalicious nonetheless!
They're pose-able when they're little! |

Fun Horse Pix
Yeah, yeah...it's cats and horses too...it's not really "just" a dog blog anymore! While Solana is never left turned-out with a halter on (for safety reasons), I ordered her a new one recently and put it on and then took some pix to see how I liked the color. You know I enjoy shooting at weird angles, in extreme close-up, etc.
Love that soft look to her eye |
