Royal Standard part two

There were all sorts of neat little touches to the Royal Standard. Every nook & cranny had something unique...like this door handle:
And, of course, this was my favorite picture in the place:

Here's a shot of the outside from one angle.

There are two black cats that live there, here's one of them.

Okay, this is a bad shot, but what I'm trying to show you is that dogs were welcome inside (go figure! even with the cats!!)...This table next to us had several dogs with them. That's a black one that the woman has her arm around, and then you can see the brown one on the floor.

Not much in the way of dialogue lately as still recovering from the English Creeping Crud that I brought back with me : / Anywho, this was taken from the dam I showed you earlier...I like the lovely trees...and if you look to the right of the biggest one and see the figure...it was a sculpture of a running man.

Post Veteran's Day

Okay, so I should have posted this yesterday, but that didn't happen. I just wanted to say that I hope you took some time on Veteran's Day to consider everything the men and women of the Armed Services have done for us. I don't care what your opinions on any particular conflict are...the sacrifices these individuals make to serve us deserve respect...and thanks.

My other wish is that this sentiment is expressed throughout the year...not just on select holidays.

So go tell someone in the military that you appreciate them. A smile and an expression of gratitude can really make someone's day.

More Beeches

Nice paths curved around through these great old trees.

Even fallen limbs had loads of character.

Yes, I do know the focus on this shot is all wonky...but I still really like it. The light was just incredible...highlighting all the wonderful fall colors while it was still dark and shady within the thick of things...

Burnham Beeches

Burnham Beeches is just a few miles away from where the rellies live. This forest of ancient beeches is quite impressive. These trees are *so* big...and *so* old. You can easily imagine Robin Hood and his merry men romping through them.

A terrific place for kids to run and play...little kids and big kids! ;D

Go, read up on "pollarding", the process used to manage the growth of these big guys.

The Neighborhood

This is what it looks like taking the "back way" to school....
This is a shot a bit closer to the house...there's a nice trail there that we'll walk up later and take a look around.

The Village

So, the village where the rellies live is roughly half-way between London and Oxford. There's the house...just there, behind the "Give way" sign. :D I do love the Brits and their expressions.
